The first day of Event #64: $1,500 Mixed No-Limit Hold'Em & Pot-Limit Omaha (Eight Handed) has come to an end. Ryan Laplante bagged an exceptionally large stack of 245,000 to end the night as the chip leader, as he looks for his second WSOP title.

Laplante's first WSOP win came last year in the $565 Pot-Limit Omaha for $190,328. Laplante has also had an impressive summer thus far in 2017 with a final table appearance in the $1,000 No-Limit Hold'Em Tag Team event and he also shipped the $600 No-Limit Hold'Em Ultimate Goliath Stack for over $31,000.

Chris Moorman is not far behind with 200,500 chips and he is also looking to add his second WSOP bracelet to his accomplishments. Moorman, an online poker professional, won his first bracelet earlier this year in the $3,000 No-Limit Hold'Em - 6 Handed event for nearly half a million dollars. Moorman has racked up over $5,000,000 in career earnings and is looking to add to that in a big way.

The day started out with around 400 entries but quickly grew to a total of 1,058 by the end of late registration. Bust-outs came quick and often throughout the day, including some busting on the very first hand. The money bubble burst in the last hand of the evening when Ethen Tosun and Tommy Chen both busted and will take home a share of the $2,252. In the end, the day finished with 158 players.

The total field made up a prizepool of $1,428,300 with 159 players making the money and a min-cash being worth $2,252. Those making it through to Day 2 will be looking forward to the first place prize of $268,555 and a WSOP gold bracelet.

Many notables took their shot in this one-of-a-kind event, however, those that were eliminated early include Joe Cada, Maurice Hawkins, Phil Laak, Niall Farrell, Allen Cunningham, David Williams, Maria Ho, Nacho Barbero, Joseph Cheong, Yevgeniy Timoshenko, Chris Ferguson, Ari Engel, and Kristen Bicknell.

Notables that were lucky enough to find a bag after Day 1 are defending champion Loren Klein, Tom Marchese, Jared Jaffee, Juha Helppi, Shannon Shorr, Carlos Mortensen, Matt Affleck, Esther Taylor, and Jeff Gross.

When the remaining 158 players return at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, they will all be guaranteed $2,252 and the eliminations can be expected to be just as fast as today.

The Story of Us; Ethem Tosun and Tommy Chen Share the Bubble

• Nivo 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Tommy Chen got all in with {a-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{a-Diamonds} against an opponent with {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{2-Clubs}.

The flop read {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and when the hands were revealed the {8-Clubs} hit the turn and the {4-Clubs} hit the river, giving his opponent a full house and sending Chen to the rail.

At the same time, Steve Gross knocked out Ethem Tosun when Steve Gross flopped top two pair against Tosun's bottom set. Gross hit a full house on the turn to eliminate Tosun.

Tosun and Chen will share 159th place and split the prize and take $1,126 each.

Should've Said No; Bryce Yockey Gets Paid Off

• Nivo 10: 500-1,000, 100 ante

Pot-Limit Omaha

Bryce Yockey called a raise to 2,300 and was heads up to the {k-Clubs}{10-Spades}{7-Spades} flop. He and his opponent both checked. The turn was the {9-Diamonds} and his opponent checked. Yockey bet 3,000 and his opponent called.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Yockey bet 8,500. His opponent tanked for awhile before check-calling and Yockey showed a straight, holding {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{6-Spades}.

His opponent said he should have folded.

Schwind's Top Set Holds

[user339872] • Nivo 9: 400-800, 100 ante

With the flop reading {9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}, there was a flurry of action between three players and they all got their chips in the middle before seeing any more cards. Jessica Dawley found herself in the mix holding {k-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}, Dave Schwind showed {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the third player held {a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}. Schwind was all in for 54,200, the third player had 51,800, and Dawley had them both covered, creating a massive pot for whoever came out on top.

The turn was the {4-Spades} and the river landed the {6-Spades}, which meant Schwind's top set was good enough to take down the pot. Dawley was left with just under 15,000 while Schwind stacked up enough chips to sit among the chip leaders.

Ismael Bojang Jams the River

[user339872] • Nivo 9: 400-800, 100 ante

No-Limit Hold'em

With around 6,000 in the pot and the board reading {q-Clubs}{7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{8-Spades}, there were still three players remaining in the hand. The small blind checked, as did Ismael Bojang in the big blind. The cutoff bet 2,200 and both the small blind and Bojang called.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and the small blind led out for 5,100. Bojang moved all-in for 11,100 and got both of his opponents to fold.
