Over 600 players took their seats this afternoon in at the start of Day 2 in the World Series of Poker Event #5: $565 Colossus No Limit Hold'em, but only 43 bagged chips at the conclusion of play.

Leading the way is Raul Martinez Requena, who ended the day with 5,270,000 chips after a huge surge toward the end of the night.

Several well-known players also remain in contention for WSOP gold in this event, including Matt Affleck, Robert Hankins, and Tom Hall.

However, many others weren't so lucky. Today's casualties included Cody Pack, Ismael Bojang, Sebastian Pauli, Cate Hall, Haixia Zhang, Jeff Gross, and Ryan Laplante. Both Chris Moorman and his wife Katie Lindsay were eliminated today as well.

Players will return Tuesday at 2 p.m. to play down to a final table. Follow all the updates here on PokerNews throughout the 2017 World Series of Poker.

Six More Hands

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

The clock has been stopped and each table will play six more hands tonight before play draws to a close.

Cowboy Cuce Shot Down In Hail of Bullets

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Thomas Cuce bust just before the close of play with five tables remaining.

He summed it up eloquently to PokerNews as he lent on the pay-out desk.

“Kings into Aces.”

A cruel kind of beauty to the poetry of poker to finish his Colossus tournament.

Ralph Massey With Aces; Holds

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Champie Douglas opened the action and called a three-bet from Ralph Massey.

The flop was {j-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and it proved fatal to Douglas’s tournament hopes as all the chips went in the middle.

Douglas hit top pair with {k-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} but was looking for even more help against the {a-Diamonds}{a-Spades} of Massey.

The turn was the {8-Hearts} and the river the {q-Spades}.

Exit Douglas while Massey’s rail craned their necks to see how many chips he had.

“One point nine and change.” came the count as he held up the change for them to see.

Robert Hankins Rivers an Ace to Double Up

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante
Robert Hankins
Robert Hankins

Robert Hankins started the action with a raise to 125,000 from under the gun, the player in the cutoff three-bet to 325,000, Hankins four-bet for the majority of his stack, the cutoff moved all in, and Hankins called to put himself at risk. However, when the cards were turned over, he found himself way behind with {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} against his opponent's {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

The {J-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop was no help to Hankins, and neither was the {2-Hearts} turn, but the {A-Spades} river was exactly what he needed to double up.

Robert Webb Doubles Up

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Robert Webb moved all in from middle position for approximately 500,000 and the big blind called to put Webb at risk. The big blind tabled {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds} and Webb turned over {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Webb was a significant underdog and needed help in order to double up.

The {8-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop was exactly what he was looking for, and neither the {7-Spades} turn nor {9-Diamonds} river was any help to his opponent, and Webb doubled up with his pair of eights.

Ellen Lambeth Eliminated In 53rd Place.

• Nivo 28: 30,000-60,000, 10,000 ante

Ellen Lambeth moved all in from early position and start of day chip leader Ardavan Yazdi sat to her left declared all in too.

No more players wanted to get involved so cards were one their backs.

Ellen Lambeth: {a-Clubs}{10-Spades}
Ardavan Yazdi: {k-Spades}{k-Hearts}.

The board ran out {9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{q-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}.

SIck flush draw sweat on the all club flop but the remaing cards bricked out for Lambeth so she and her faithful dog went walkies to the payout desk.
