On Thursday, July 11th, the final six players from a 193-entry field of Event #77: $3,000 Limit Hold'em 6-Handed returned to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino to play down to a winner. Tu Dao took down the title ever after she defeated Alain Alinat head’s up to win her first gold bracelet and $133,189 and become the second woman to win a bracelet this summer in an open event.

Dao, who had previously finished fourth in the Ladies Event this summer for $52,007, is more familiar to the cash game tables, which are her “her bread and butter”, but started to play some live tournaments again after a couple of good results recently.

On why there was a five-year gap on her Hendon mob, Dao explained she used to play lots of tournaments but didn't get anywhere for a long time. She felt like she "wasn't good enough” and needed to gain some confidence back. Dao credited her friend Benjamin Underwood for helping her to train and prepare and for the support they give to each other.

Now she feels “very excited and happy. My kids are watching and it makes them very proud". When asked what she's going to do with her winnings, Dao said she hadn't thought about it yet, she's looking forward to going home and has already booked her flights for tomorrow. “It’s been a long time and I miss my kids and my dogs”.

Final Table Action

During the first two levels of the day, the six players of the final table stayed on their seat and Tu Dao, chipleader at the beginning of the day, was involved in many pots and managed to extend her lead to almost half of the chips in play within 90 minutes.

Oleg Chebotarev, down to a short stack, found pocket nines on the button and five-bet versus Alain Alinat who made the call with Ace-jack and hit two pair on the flop. Chebotarev put his last chips in the middle but found no miracle throughout the rest of the board and he had to settle for sixth place and a $19,687 payday.

A few hands later, Jan Suchanek followed him out the door in fifth. It happened when Suchanek battled preflop against Ian O'Hara. All the chips went in the middle and Suchanek was in good shape for a double up with king-queen off, dominating O’Hara’s hand with queen-eight off. However, O’Hara hit a flush and just like that Suchanek was gone, good for $27,251 in prize money.

Around 30-minutes later, Chad Eveslage busted against Alinat when he five-bet shoved after he hit two pair on a paired flop with two hearts. Alinat completed with the flush draw and hit when the turn ran out another heart. Eveslage was ousted in fourth place for $38,561 after the river bricked.

The three-handed battle lasted for two hours and it’ wasn't until the middle of Level 25 that O’Hara would bow out. The latter lost a few pots and was down to a few big blinds when he called off a bet from Dao for all his chips on a seven-high paired flop. Dao was ahead with king-jack while O’Hara held jack-nine and didn’t hit one of the outs he needed on the river to be eliminated in third place for $55,749.

This left Dao and Alinat to battle it out for the bracelet and the heads-up play began with Dao holding a 2-1 chip lead over Alinat but the two would engage in a back-and-forth match. Each took turns holding the chip lead on several occasions over more than two hours, but eventually, Dao won a few hands in a row to once again pull out to a big lead.

In the final hand of the tournament, Dao six-bet preflop with king-nine offsuit and Alinat called all in for his last chips with the best hand, king-queen offsuit. Unfortunately for the French player, Dao paired her nine on the flop and even if the turn brought a flush draw to Alinat, he didn’t hit on the river to finish second for $82,312, his best live cash.

Thank you for following all the action with PokerNews and be sure to check back in over the next few days as the 2019 WSOP comes to an end.

The tournament has reached it's conclusion after more than eight hours of play today. Stay tuned for a full recap, which will be posted shortly.

Alain Alinat Eliminated in 2nd Place ($82,312)

It's all over for Alain Alinat after he got the last of his chips in preflop. He opened to 160,000, Tu Dao three-bet and then the two players kept raising each other until all of Alinat's 525,000 chips were in the middle.

Tu Dao: {k-Clubs}{9-Hearts}
Alain Alinat: {k-Diamonds}{q-Hearts}

Alinat was in with the best hand but failed to hold against Tu Dao after she spiked a nine on the {4-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop. A {3-Diamonds} on the turn gave Alinat a flush draw and his rail called for a "diamond" but sadly for the Frenchman the river didn't oblige, with the {4-Hearts} landing instead.

Congratulations go to Alinat on finishing runner-up in the event, who will go home $82,312 better off as a result.

The flop went {10-Hearts}{5-Spades}{2-Spades} and Alinat bet 80,000. Dao raised it 160,000 and Alinat called. On the {j-Spades} turn, Alinat checked and folded after Dao fired another 160,000. Alinat was left with 525,000 after that hand.

Alinat Below 1 million

• Nivo 27: 80,000-160,000, 0 ante

Alain Alinat has dropped to under 1 million in chips. The latest loss came when he opened to 160,000 and Tu Dao three-bet to 240,000. He called and they saw a {j-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Spades} flop. Dao bet 80,000 and Alinat called but there was no further betting on the {2-Hearts} turn or the {k-Hearts} river. Dao tabled {a-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} and ace-high was good enough.

Alain Alinat raised and called a three-bet from Tu Dao.

The dealer fanned a flop {k-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and Dao continued for 80,000, called by Alinat. On the {3-Hearts} turn, Dao opted to check-call a bet of 160,000 from Alinat.

A {q-Spades} came on the river and Dao check-called once more for another 160,000. Alinat showed {j-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for a missed draw and Dao took down the pot with {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}.

Chip Lead Changes Hands Once More

• Nivo 26: 60,000-120,000, 0 ante

With limits this big, it's no wonder the chip lead is changing hands more often than a $1 bill. Alain Alinat has regained the advantage but the last pot went to Tu Dao after she defended her big blind versus Alinat's open. On a {5-Hearts}{2-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} flop, she check-raised over the 60,000 bet and Alinat let it go.

Top Pair for Alinat

• Nivo 26: 60,000-120,000, 0 ante

Tu Dao opened and Alain Alinat three-bet to 180,000, which Dao called. The flop fell {q-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Spades} and Alinat bet 60,000 and Dao came along.

The turn was an {a-Clubs} and Alinat check-called this time, for 120,000.

The last card was the {5-Spades} and after Alinat checked, Dao checked it back. Alinat tabled {a-Spades}{3-Spades} for top pair and scooped the chips.
