Pappas Puts Flack to the Test

• Nivo 27: 30,000-60,000, 60,000 ante

Layne Flack opened to 150,000 from middle position, and Clifford Pappas raised all-in for 790,000 from the big blind. Flack stood up and mulled it over.

"I didn't snap call, so you're happy there," Flack said.

After a couple of minutes of consideration, the six-time bracelet winner folded, pushing the pot to Pappas.

Todd Keikoan just took the last of Alice Parypa,'s chips, putting his own stack up to 2,700,000. Keikoan took down the pot with {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} on a board of {9-Spades}{a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, with the two pair {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} giving him the winner.

The bustouts have come rapidly at Level 27, as the event is now down to 46 players.

Donev Busts to River One-Outer

• Nivo 27: 30,000-60,000, 60,000 ante
Ivo Donev
Ivo Donev

All the chips went in preflop, Alan Ho raising in the cutoff and Ivo Donev moving in for his last 560,000 or so. Ho made the call to see how close their hands were:

Ho: {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}
Donev: {a-Diamonds}{3-Spades}

The word "chop" was bandied around before the {3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} flop came down, propelling Donev towards a double up. The turn brought the {2-Hearts} giving Ho one out to win the pot, and it popped out on the river: the {2-Clubs}.

The table let out a collective shout at the vagaries of the game and a rather shocked Donev headed out of the tournament, winning $12,281, saying, "Even I've got to take a picture of this," as he snapped the board for posterity.

Jessee Develops a Rail

• Nivo 27: 30,000-60,000, 60,000 ante

A post-dinner rail has appeared near Dennis Jessee's table. They made their presence known when Jessee took down a pot on the river, the board standing {7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{k-Spades}{q-Diamonds}. His opponent had led out and he moved all-in, prompting a fold and loud golf-style clap from his supporters; his stack is now a healthy 2,480,000.

Roussel-Galle Folds Out Stewart on the River

• Nivo 27: 30,000-60,000, 60,000 ante
Valerie Roussel-Galle
Valerie Roussel-Galle

With the board showing a scary four-flush {k-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{j-Hearts}, Valerie Roussel-Galle put in a bet on the river, sending Roger Stewart into the tank. Stewart thought it over for awhile and folded, preserving the last of about a 10-big-blind stack. Roussel-Galle collected the chips and showed the {9-Clubs}{6-Spades} for the ambitious but successful bluff.

Bramson Takes Some from Flack

• Nivo 27: 30,000-60,000, 60,000 ante
Layne Flack
Layne Flack

Jonathan Bramson raised preflop to 125,000, called by both his left hand side neighbour Layne Flack and the small blind. On a {9-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, Bramson bet 200,000 (just two green chips at this level), Flack called and the small blind folded. The turn brought the {7-Spades} and a quick shove from Bramson.

"Seven forty?" asked Flack immediately, having estimated his opponent's stack to within 5,000 (it was a bet of 735,000). "It's obviously a stone cold bluff," Flack continued while being vigorously massaged, and folded his hand.
