Baker Takes The Lead

For the first time since we got down to eight players there's someone else in the lead. Greg Mueller just gave up his chip lead on the final hand of 2-7 Triple Draw. David Baker's has never been this close to winning that gold bracelet he's been trying to win for so many years!

2-7 Triple Draw

From the button Mueller raised it up to 160,000 and Baker immediately three-bet to 240,000 from the big blind. Mueller called.

On the first draw Baker took one card and Mueller needed three. Before looking at his card Baker bet 80,000 and Mueller made the call.

Baker needed one card once again on the second draw, and after he saw that Mueller needed two, he put in a 160,000 chip bet. Mueller took some time but eventually made the call.

For the third time in a row Baker took one card, and they seemed to be even now since Mueller also needed just one. Baker took a good look at his cards and put in another 160,000 chip bet. Mueller looked at his new card, but didn't find what he was looking for. He folded and that means Baker is now our new chip leader.

Onto the Triple Draw

[user153638] • Nivo 30

We're about halfway done with the round of 2-7 Triple Draw and action has slowed to a crawl. Both players seem content to play a patient game, making sure they don't make any mistakes along the way.

It's Now Anybody's Game

[user153638]

Stud Eight or Better:

David Baker brought it in with the {6-Hearts} and then called a completion from Greg Mueller, who was showing the {A-Clubs}. The latter proceeded to bet the turn before check-calling a bet on fifth street. Baker took the lead on sixth with sixes and promptly bet, which Mueller called.

The action was the same on seventh, and Baker said, "Kings full."

Baker: {A-Spades}{K-Clubs} / {6-Hearts}{K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades} / {K-Hearts}
Mueller: {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts} / {A-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts} / (x)

"I had the aces," Mueller said as he showed two of his down cards, sending the third to the muck. With that, Baker has essentially evened the stack.

Mueller Wins Some in Limit Hold'em

Both players are still playing a very solid and focussed game, and during the eight hands of Limit Hold'em Greg Mueller won a small amount of his opponent. We're on to Stud Eight or Better.

PLO Goes the Way of Razz

[user153638]

David Baker and Greg Mueller just played eight hands of pot limit Omaha and no notables pots developed. A few blinds did change hands, but it had a minimal effect on the standings. Time for some limit hold'em.

Razz Comes and Goes

[user153638] • Nivo 30

The round of Razz passed uneventfully as the players simply took turns bringing it in, completing, and folding. On to pot limit Omaha.

"Scooper on the River"

[user153638]

Omaha Eight or Better:

Greg Mueller raised on the button and David Baker call from the big. The latter proceeded to check-call bets on both the {5-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop and {10-Clubs} turn before both players checked the {A-Spades} river.

Baker rolled over {A-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{6-Hearts}, and Mueller conceded, "Scooper on the river."

Double Up For Baker

Omaha Eight or Better

From the button David Baker raised to 160,000 and Greg Mueller defended his big blind. The flop came down {A-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and Mueller checked to Baker who fired out 80,000.

"Raise," Mueller announced, and he made it 160,000. Baker didn't waste time and put in 240,000, after which Mueller inquired about the rest of his opponent's stack. Baker had 105,000 chips left behind, and those went into the pot as well on the flop.

"Wheel," Baker announced, and Mueller realized this match wasn't over yet!

David Baker{2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}
Greg Mueller{6-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

Mueller had outs to win the high, and the {J-Clubs} on the turn gave him even more options. The river was the {5-Spades}, and that didn't help the double bracelet winner. Baker got himself a double up, but Mueller still has a strong lead in this match.

Mueller Strikes First Blood

[user153638]

Omaha Eight or Better:

In the first hand of the round, David Baker raised to 160,000 from the button and Greg Mueller defended from the big blind. The {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{2-Clubs} flop saw Mueller check-call a bet before both players checked the {7-Clubs} turn.

When the {8-Spades} peeled off on the river, Mueller came out firing 160,000 and Baker wasted little time in releasing his hand.
