Event #8: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Eighteen Outs and A Brick on the River

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

With the flop reading {3-Clubs}{6-Spades}{J-Spades}, we witnessed two players in an all-in confrontation. Player # 1, whose name we did not catch before players departed for a break, showed his {K-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and was ahead of the {A-Spades}{4-Spades} held by his opponent, who needed to catch an ace or a spade to take the lead.

Turn: {5-Hearts}

Young Phan and the other players at the table whistled in delight as the turn card gave Player # 2 the rare eighteen-out draw heading into the river. Player # 1 now needed to avoid any ace, any spade, as well as the deuces and sevens remaining in the deck. The table hushed in anticipation as the dealer prepared to turn over the river card.

River: {9-Diamonds}

With that, Player # 1 had survived what must have been a terrifying sweat and earned a well deserved double up.

Part of Turner's Stack Gets Jacked

OHairDJ • Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

Jon "PearlJammer" Turner raised to 8,500 from early position and got one caller from the big blind.

The flop came {8-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{2-Hearts} and Turner's opponent check-called a 9,500 c-bet from Turner.

The turn brought a {3-Diamonds} and this time Turner's opponent led out for 20,000. Turner called.

The river was a {J-Clubs} and the big blind player once again bet 20,000. Turner quickly called and his opponent tabled the {Q-Clubs}{J-Spades} for a rivered pair. This was enough to send a small jitter through Turner, who mucked his hand.

Turner is far from out, however, with a stack right around 340,000.

Mizrachi Mounting Major Comeback

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

We missed the most of the action, but after tabling his {A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds} with the board reading {A-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{A-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds}, Eric Mizrachi's full house has added another pot to his growing stack.

Short stacked for most of the evening, Mizrachi has gone on a heater and he now has approximately 235,000 chips to work with, placing him squarely in contention as we approach the end of Day 2.

Set for Jordan

A short-stacked player pushed all in for roughly his last 30,000 and Jordan Young made the call from the button.

Young: {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{5-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{10-Hearts} to see Young's set gift him another pot to move to 320,000 in chips.

Daniel Haglund Flying Below Radar

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

We've spotted a massive chip stack belonging to one Daniel Haglund, a baby-faced professional from Sweden, who has managed to escape our attention thus far.

Haglund has amassed a castle of chips totaling more than 310,000 and we will be sure to keep an eye on this unassuming player who is apparently far more dangerous than he appears.

Duhamel Strikes River

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

On a {7-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{10-Clubs} flop, Jonathan Duhamel fired out a continuation-bet of 9,500 only to have his lone opponent in the big blind check-raise to 30,000. Duhamel responded by moving all in as his opponent instantly made the call for his final 80,000 in chips.

Duhamel: {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Opponent: {9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}

With Duhamel trailing but still holding plenty of outs, the {2-Hearts} changed little on the turn, but it would be the river-striking {10-Diamonds} that would ensure Duhamel was pushed the pot to move to roughly 255,000 in chips.

Young Gets Value from Second Pair

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

Entering the pot with a raise to 8,500 from early position, Jordan Young found a caller in the big blind to see a {A-Spades}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts} flop.

Both players checked as the {Q-Hearts} landed on the turn and both players again tapped the table as the {10-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Young paused for a moment before betting 25,000, and with his opponent only having 12,500 behind, he called it off.

Young tabled his {K-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} and his opponent mucked as Jymaster11 climbed to 290,000 in chips.

Koral KO'd

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

After doubling up an opponent a few orbits earlier, Tom Koral has recently been eliminated.

The board read {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{A-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{Q-Spades} and it was Koral's opponent's {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs} that was being pushed the pot.

Lights Out on Layne Flack Show

• Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

From under the gun Min Ku opened to 15,000 and was met with a Layne Flack shove for virtually the same amount.

Ku: {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades}
Flack: {J-Diamonds}{10-Spades}

Unfortunately it was closing time for the Layne Flack show as the board was spread {K-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{A-Clubs}, but with Flack headed to the rail he did offer one last piece of wisdom, "Boys, you've all see the best poker of your life!"

Fish Felted on Two-Outer

OHairDJ • Nivo 17: 2,000-4,000, 500 ante

We missed the action but are being told Darryll Fish got all-in on the flop with {A-}{10-} on a ten-high flop. His opponent had pocket eights and hit a set on the turn, ending Fish's tournament life.
